DC BID Council’s Mental Health Report
Moya Design Partners created a custom booklet to release the District of Columbia Business Improvement District Council’s findings on homelessness and mental health. Our team set the data into a compact, easy-to-read, A5 report. We went for a colorful layout—red and blue—to celebrate inclusiveness and a sense of community. These colors align with the American flag and the visual identity of Washington, D.C., showing the importance of the report to both the city and the nation.
In blue, we created sympathetic illustrations of homeless people. This theme can often be “heavy” and delicate to treat visually. We wanted to present it in a straightforward way. Red evokes the need for prompt attention to the issues and highlights important take-aways. Sans-serif fonts and easy-to-read flow charts help readers follow along the paths that vulnerable people may take while accessing services in Washington, D.C. This promotes empathy. The report closes with the DC BID Council’s logo on a red geometric background for a sense of urgency to action. Altogether, this forthright design clarifies vital data on homelessness and mental health for BID stakeholders and the public.
